San Diego

So it has already been several weeks since our out-of-state trip, but it is about time I posted it!  We had a mini-vacation  San Diego in January to get out of Vegas for a weekend and see a friend while she was at a conference.  We left Friday afternoon and made it to San Diego (with a quick stop outside of San Bernadino) in the evening, just in time to check in and get into bed.  Saturday we spent the whole day at Balboa Park checking out the train museum, the air and space museum and just seeing the beauty San Diego holds.  Sunday we went to Sea World and the boys were thrilled to see Shamu, sea otters, dolphins and sea lions.  Plus all the birds were so beautiful!  They were a little concerned the killer whales were going to kill the "good whales."  We assured them that everyone would be ok. 
Just in case you were wondering, we had some amazing food while we were there thanks to Diners Drive-Ins and Dives and we highly recommend each place we visited.  Hob Nob Hill Restaurant is FABULOUS and the wait staff was so great!  It was a little pricey for the whole family but the food was so delicious.  We also went to Crazee Burger which offered burgers made from about any kind of meat imaginable.  Vegetarians, beware!  We could have anything frmo Buffalo to Alligator, Wild Boar to Kangaroo.  We went for the Wild Boar (with spiced pears and cream) and the antelope (with cheese chili).  SOOOO GOOD!!!  Plus, the sweet potato fries were out of this world!
But, by far, Blue Waters Fish Market was THE BEST!  We waited in line at this hole-in-the wall for about a half-hour and it was absolutely worth it.  The fish was fresh from the ocean and cooked to perfection.  Blaise's sandwich was out of this world, but definitely not better than my fish tacos.  I could eat there every day.  Twice a day.  For the rest of my life.
Already the kids are talking about returning to San Diego...every weekend.  It was a perfect getaway and we can't wait to go back!  Next time I think we will take on surfing:-)
